Example: BaseballWarehouse.com

What kind of traffic could your site generate (and then the sales that come with it) if you ranked #1 or #2 for non-specific 4 keyword phrases? Checkout the Google rankings for these phrases:

baseball equipment
baseball bats
baseball gloves
baseball uniforms

Some categories are quicker or slower than others. In the baseball equipment category, there weren't a lot of businesses paying marketing companies to make their site rank well. Therefore, these rankings only took about 6 months to achieve.

Website code written in 1999 was not built for search engines. It had 1 template page serving up its 300 plus pages.  All 300 looked like the same page to Google. I made some changes to the link structure, added some fields in the database to accommodate meta information for each product, manually added meta information for most of the products and started requesting links. Today, all its pages are indexed, which contributes to its 4x increase in traffic and 2x sales. It ranks across all 3 major search engines in the top 5 for ‘security cameras’ and many other search terms. Before you hire an SEO company, make sure they have some skins on the wall for these kinds of popular 2-word keyword phrases.

Another site written in 1999 with the same problem. Same issues, faster results. It’s gaining 6-700 new visitors per month as more and more pages are becoming visible to Google. Sales from new customers are increasing. Just months ago, the company didn’t get orders from new customers online. Its main keyword phrase is "children's bible stories". It moved from the 10th page onto google's first page of results. Currently in the top 5 on Yahoo, Google and MSN. The company is enjoying its best year due to becoming more visible in the search results for numerous keyword phrases.

A brand new site built on the AbleCommerce shopping system. It currently ranks in the top 12 for "educational videos" across all 3 engines.
